“Your help during that scramble was much appreciated. Thank you very much Bryony. She followed your advice in terms of making the structure clear and simpler to understand, as well as improving the introduction and adding some textual analysis. She got her coursework bumped up to A and got a high A overall in English A level. And she got her preferred place to study history at UCL next year, so she’s very happy.”

MY Work in Education
I have worked since 2011 as a private tutor, specialising in English Literature and Drama (to undergraduate level); also History, Religious Studies, Art and English Language (to GCSE); and study/revision skills.
• I have worked with students ranging from 5 – 40 years old
• I have taught students with a range of special educational needs
• The majority of my students gain top grades/access into their chosen path of further education
• I develop personalised syllabuses and schemes of work
Since 2020 I have expanded my work as an SEN teacher in schools. I am an SEN Teacher at Fine Arts College and held the role of Deputy Senco at Kew House School. This followed years working in SEN and learning support at a range of London schools. I specialise in working with students with Autism, anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia and a range of other learning differences. I have worked with students from years 7-13 in class in a range of subjects and one-to-one outside of the classroom, and in small group interventions for extra English and study skills. I provided study skill help, emotional support and strategies to access and breakdown given work. I also help school refusers and students who have difficulties accessing mainstream learning. I am also well versed in supporting students with accessibility and advocation.
• I worked closely with students with Autism, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Depression, Attachment Disorder, ADHD and Global delay
• I provided one to one study support
• I led group study support mentoring
• I provided scribing, reading, exam support
I have also worked as a workshop facilitator for The Code as well as being a trained Coach with Connections in Mind.
• I co-developed and now lead workshops on study and revision skills for teenagers who have executive functioning needs. We have developed an intensive course guiding students to use social encoding, flash cards, mindmaps, past exam papers in tangent with timing, revision timetabling, testing, essay structuring and stress management.
I have worked with children and adult learners in a number of different situations, from leading workshops to one-to-one tuition. I am enthusiastic about the many different ways that there are to learn and teach. I feel each student needs someone to work with them creatively, responding to their needs and encouraging an engaging environment. I learned a lot from leading script-writing workshops with young carers and finding different routes into teaching.
My background in Music, Art and History feeds into a fully rounded academic and creative/practical overview. Having an English Literature degree and a training from the Oxford School of Drama I am fully open to finding ways to spark interest in creative subjects and see how they link to one and another, in a friendly manner and with passion for the subjects. I have a wealth of experience and understanding of supporting students with additional learning needs. I have attended a training course run by the National Autism Society on Autism and Anxiety which has empowered me to teach students and help them to develop useful coping mechanisms and strategies at times of high intensity or stress. I have also supported students with ADHD, dyspraxia, and sensory processing difficulties. I have led workshops in improv for communication, confidence, critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving with a range of students.
